2 - Robotic Drawing (Part 1)

 This is the design I made in Rhino 8 using the grasshopper definitions:



I created a sketch on paper, used the picture command to put it in Rhino, and then used the curve tool to create an outline. I then offset that outline and played around with the grasshopper definitions until I was happy with the final result.

  This was the result I got from following the video tutorials. I thought the process was really interesting, especially the bi-arc function!! I decided to experiment with that in the next part of this assignment, and I ended up starting out with something like this:  I then used the loft command in Grasshopper, and it created some really cool effects with the gradient preview that I really loved:  I got inspired by the idea of a jellyfish and decided to play around with flow and array, both in Grasshopper. Experimenting was pretty challenging but fun.    I was excited to bake this and start experimenting with materials, but unfortunately it ended up wayyyy more complicated than my computer could handle. 3 - Robotic Drawing (Part 2)

Firstly, I made some changes to my design. Using the fill patterns we were given as a guideline, I figured out an offset fill that I liked a lot more for the main body of the fish. I also replaced the scribbles in the stars with the offset fill after hearing about the scribbles taking a long time (and I had some pretty dense scribbles in the original design).  When it came to doing the actual print, I was already feeling super intimidated--I feel like I'm understanding grasshopper relatively well, but the actual CNC stuff is where my brain starts to slow down. I ran into a few issues that stopped me from even starting the print and decided to ask for help, and though it took a while to get here, I'm super happy with the final result and definitely feel like things have started to click for me.  There were a few unexpected things with the print, such as the smaller stars being rounded and the hatches not aligning with the outlines.
